I don't think anyone has done as great a job as Obama at leveraging the Web to rally his constituency and increase participation in the election. His campaign recently sponsored an "Obama in 30 seconds" contest in which videos were solicited from everyday folk to tell their story or inspire others in, you guessed it, 30 seconds or less. Judges for the contest included Hollywood names such as Matt Damon, Russell Simmons and Oliver Stone. The winning video was almost predictable-- a lifelong Republican declaring that he was going to vote for Obama.
The "People's Choice" award, on the other hand, ended not so predictably... and subsequently was my favorite as well:
